How to Point a Domain from GoDaddy to SiteGround

Godaddy is one of the largest domain name registrars, hence, a lot of people prefer purchasing their domain names from them.

If you have a hosting account with Siteground and already purchased a domain with Godaddy, you will need to point your domain name from Godaddy to Siteground for you to be able to set up your website with your Siteground hosting.

If you have bought a domain name from Namecheap, then follow this guide to point your Namecheap domain to SiteGround.

Some persons usually think adding a Godaddy domain to Siteground is a difficult process. However, it is not.

In this guide, I will quickly show you how to point Godaddy domain to SiteGround hosting

This usually involves 2 major processes.

  1. Getting your SiteGround Nameservers from your account
  2. Adding your SiteGround Nameservers to your Godaddy Domain

Now let’s get started.

1. Getting your SiteGround Nameservers from your Hosting Account

The first step to point Godaddy domain to SiteGround hosting is to get your SiteGround Nameservers on your hosting account.

To do this:

Go to Siteground and click on Login

Next, enter your username and password, and click on the Sign In button to sign in to your SiteGround hosting account.

Next, click on My Accounts to go to your SiteGround hosting account page.


In your Account page, click on Go to cPanel

In your Control Panel Page, under Account Information, you will find your Name Servers. This is directly under your IP address.

Usually, your SiteGround Name Servers will be something like this:

ns1.us72.siteground.us
ns2.us72.siteground.us

Next, copy it out and paste it on a notepad. Remember, you will need it in other to point your Godaddy domain to your SiteGround hosting.

2. Adding your SiteGround Nameservers to your Godaddy Account

Now that you have gotten your SiteGround Name Servers, you will need to add it to your Godaddy domain. To do that, follow the process below.

First, login to your Godaddy account.

After that, under My Products section, click on DNS in front of the domain you want to point to SiteGround.

Doing this will take you to the DNS Management page.

In your DNS Management page scroll down to the Nameservers section. 

Your domain will likely be using the default Godaddy nameservers unless you have changed it before.

Next, click on the Change button, and add your SiteGround Nameservers, the one you copied from your SiteGround hosting.

After you have pasted your SiteGround Nameservers in the first and second row respectively, click the Save button.
